Yesterday we went to the zoo for the first time with Collin. Collin can now say he has been to the only mountain zoo in America. Our adventure started off great with some clouds that soon tapered off then was 77 degrees and very sunny. Collin was good the first ten minutes or so then he became a little fussy, so I put him in the Baby Bjorn which he soon fell right to sleep in.

Grandma and I walked all around and got to see all of our favorite animals. Grandma got to see her Elephants which see wasn't able to see on her field trip with her preschools, so that was our first stop and saw the Giraffes on the way there.

Then we set off for the rest of the zoo. Next to come was the Australia part of the zoo. Not too much there so we went to the tirgers next! Suprisingly all the animals were up and outside. I guess thats what we get when we wake up early and go to the zoo. Then I was determined to get some photos of my favorite animal, which is monkeys! We also told daddy that I would take some pictures of us in front of monkeys.

So the funny thing about taking pictures with monkeys is that you never really know what they are going to do in the photos. We went to the primate exhibit to see more monkeys and the baby Orangutan that was just born two months ago. Well we got to the gorillas and this one was showing everyone the finger and I wanted a picture of it but when I sat down to take the picture he changed his hand back and put his other hand on the glass where my back was. So sweet and precious. Then after we were done with the picture he moved his hand back and showed his finger to everyone again so I got that one for Iain!

After that we were kinda done with walking up and down the hills and ready to call it a day. As we were walking around we saw a lot of little babies have these cute hats on and so we wanted to get one for Collin so he can have a souvenir. We found one and then we had to get it hope you can see why! He just pulls it off wonderfully!

I have decided to create this blog so it would be easier to tell everyone whats going on in our lives without repeating ourselves over. I hope you all enjoy.

Back in October, Iain received the opportunity to be stationed overseas at a NATO base. We both decided that it would be a great opportunity to see the world and what better time to see it when the baby would still be small. So March 1, 2009 I sent Iain off to get life started in Belgium since I was about 8 months pregnant at that time and couldn't fly.

In April Iain was able to come home for two weeks for the birth. My due date was on April 25, 2009 so we scheduled Iain to be home around then. We also had Iain's mom, Kathy, her husband Steve, and sister Corina come out the weekend of the 25 so they could see the baby and Iain. Well of course babies have their own schedule and little Collin Avery Kells didn't show up till Wednesday April 29, 2009 at 2:11am. The family left Tuesday afternoon so they weren't able to meet Collin. Collin was 8lbs 1oz and 20in long his head was 14in 25cm. I was in labor for 48hrs with 22hrs of it in the hospital. I pushed for about 5hrs before the doctor decided to do an emergency c-section before there were any complications with the baby. Come to find out Collin was just too big for me, so from now on I will have to have c-sections unless the baby is small. Iain was scheduled to go home on May 1, 2009 but he got an extension from work so he could stay one more week, which was greatly appreciated! We came home from the hospital Friday May 1, 2009 in the afternoon.

The first couple of nights at home were pretty hard since we couldn't just call a nurse to come and help if we had any problems. Luckily we are staying with my parents so if we did need anything they were right there helping us. Iain was such a trooper helping me with Collin and taking care of me since I was so limited on things I could do. It was getting closer for Iain to leave again and emotions were running high since this time he wasn't just leaving me he was also leaving his newly born son. Unfortunately Collin and I couldn't quite leave just yet since there were a lot of paperwork left for us to do before we could leave the country, like for instance Collin's passport and birth certificate. So on May 7, 2009 we said goodbye to daddy in hopes that we will see him very soon!
